Thanks to HANK.!!!!  Cash is a wonderful thing :D.  And will provide for 2 ten inch sub-woofers for the kids insisting on "thump". At least we can make it semi-clean thump.

You are certainly welcome!  Use it as you deem most effective in your teaching.  :thumb:

Thanks to Mark Marcantonio for the donation of a Polk Rti38.  The first thing we will do is to totally demolish it, look at the construction, analyze what they have done with the crossover, put it back together and give it a good listen.

Scott glad we could help out.

Ask Danny he has some thing else for them from me. :o
They can turn them in side out or use them for what they want.

John,
Several people in the Circle community have helped sponsor a project in which high school students from different schools are trying their hand at speaker building (usually as part of a physics class project). At year's end, they will be judged and awards given.  Currently, we have participation from three high schools.  A group has been working on a line array project for the past 6 weeks- meeting one night a week.  We hope to have the line array ready before Xmas break.

John

Ed,
For some reason I can't edit my sticky with the thanks to contributors, so here I'm putting it here. For those of you that don't know the good folks at The Horn Shoppe, you should.  Ed is a generous guy with time and resources.  Thanks again.

Thanks to Brad for donating a box of cables for students to use and compare.  They are already in use at one of the schools. :D

Thanks to Mike (MGalusha) for a pair of very nice Vifa woofers, and to Mark (golfugh) for a very nice donation of a Carver preamp.  There is a pretty decent system floating from high school to high school- my old Soundcraftsmen amp,  Mark's Carver preamp, my  Marantz 5400 cd, a Grant Fidelity tube buffer, and a variation on the GR-Research AV-1, and misc. cables from several of you guys.

Our projects are just about to start up.  As schools join in, I'll keep the forum posted.

A very big thanks to Sean, the Skiing Ninja, for a bag of goodies that would make Santa Claus blush!  I've never seen so many capacitors! It will take hours just to go through and organize the stuff!   :D

Another thanks to Jeffery.  The Sonic Craft woofers are already spoken for as I lectured to a new set of physics students yesterday- about 180 of them!

Also a big thanks  :D to Bill Baker of Response Audio for woofers, tweeter, caps, inductors, interconnect hardware, and more.  These will most likely go to the new school involved.

We take a group of kids to Danny Richie's workshop tomorrow.  It is always an ear opener for kids that have never heard good recorded sound.

S. Clark,

Did you receive the two sets of green AudioQuest interconnects I sent a while back?

I hope you are doing well.

Ed,
Yes they got here.  Honestly, I had lost who they were from, so better a late thanks than none-sorry for the delay.  They are now in a system at Jim Ned HS in Tuscola, TX.  It the little stuff like interconnects that tend to be overlooked, but you can't listen to speakers without them.

Speaking of little stuff.  Does anyone have an extra pair or two of terminal cups or post?  We are going to need a couple of dozen.

We are 100% good.  I just wanted to make sure they arrived, I meant to enclose a note and failed to do so.   I'm pretty much out of "stuff" would it be appropriate or useful to send a little "stereo-cash" for you to use for the kids?

Ed,
We can always find a place to spend donation  aa -for example, I have to buy terminal cups and post.  Please makes checks out to:
West Texas Science Center
#110 CR 322
Tuscola, TX 79562

The kids get their woofer assignments tomorrow.  From there they give me a box or OB plan.  Next they get the woofer and tweeter. After building the cabinet and first try at crossover design, we put them on the Clio to see where the problems are--- and then back to the crossover drawing board.
I'll post pictures and updates as we go.

Thanks again,
Scott
