Does anyone know attendance compared with last year?
Note to Carl...Thanks for stopping by the SMc Audio / Audience room - I enjoyed meeting you, as well. Sorry the sound didn't work out for you but... it is what it is. I got a late start on show preparation, so I was happy to find someone local to me (Audience) to share a room with. It would have been nice to have my own room, but I will have to grow a bit before that will be an option. The Audience folks brought both a small and a large version of their full-range, crossover-less speakers, and we ran the small ones on the first day. I thought they worked pretty well in our small room, but they had put so much last-minute effort into the bigger arrays that they really wanted to show them. Anyway, I was happy to get some exposure for the new preamp after busting my ass on it for the past 3 years. I hope you will get a listen to it in your own system one of these days. And I have to say that I enjoyed the show, even if I didn't get to see much of it (the exhibitors traditional curse). I will look forward to doing it again next year.Cheers!Steve McCormack, designerSMc Audio
Worst of show (probably for me only) goes to McIntosh. I know the gear well, I own it and have friends that own more of it. It sounded a bit harsh with no imaging. The rep 'Ron' was a cocky SOB... who mocked my music throughout the 10 seconds he let it play... and I got the impression he was ready to say, 'scram kid, I got real customers here'.... That experience annoyed me to the point I wanted to ditch my McSystem. I don't think he/they want to target my demographic at all. That was the only 'audio snobbery' I ran into at the whole show... So, it really stood out... plus it was one I was excited to see, it was the first room I went to, etc... So, I was surprised... but I regrouped, got coffee, breakfast, then went on to have a supremely nice day and night. My photos are here... -Carl
Funny how on Friday it seems to be so much time and then BAMit's Sunday night and the rooms are packing up.
"How many have you sold ?""Ah.....none"Are they a good buy at $44,000.00 a pair.....guess not.
I took a look at the exhibitor list and there are many more main stream manufactures showing this year. Is anyone concerned that this is a bad direction for the show? I think the initial idea was to offer a show for the smaller companies?
