I own a pair of Revel F30 for over 4 years now and have done a couple of mods to them. First, I added a bybee filter at each driver. Then, I changed all the series caps in the crossover with Sonicap Gen 1 with Sonicap platinum bypass at the tweeter and midrange crossover. The sound is very good to start with.
After reading some feedback on No Rez here in AC and av123, I think what the heck, haven't done anything to my speakers for a while, I ordered two sheets of No Rez a couple of weeks ago. Just got around to install them two days ago, it all took about 2 hours to install.
First about the installation, I am sure every speaker is different. F30 is a 3 way design with a separate chamber for woofer, mid-range and tweeter. The No Rez was all installed in the woofer chamber as the mid-range and tweeter were glued on very tight, I could not get them off. Since the three crossover circuit boards are all inside the woofer chamber, I got some 1" plastic standoff and 1.5" wood screw to mount the boards after sticking the No Rez to the inside cabinet wall. Installation was very easy as the No Rez comes with self adhesive back. Just measure the right size, cut, get it inside, peel and stick. Most of the time was spent measuring and wrestle the No Rez into place. The two sheets are enough for the two front speakers and one center channel speaker.
Now to what I hear. I expected very subtle improvement as the original speakers are very solidly built to start with and weigh 90lb each. Boy, was I wrong!!

The sound literally leaps out of the speakers. I can no longer locate the speakers anymore. The focus snap into place and the soundstage widens and deepens. The best comparison I have is like when I first tried room acoustics treatment, things all of a sudden becomes clearer. The vocal locks solidly in the middle and got pushed further back into the soundstage. The best thing is it takes no break-in time. You can hear the difference right away.
This is the best bang for the buck I have spent on any audio purchase, right up there with the GIK acoustic treatment. Thanks for such a good product Danny.
