TJ mesh-plate 300B
« on: 13 Oct 2007, 05:03 pm »
I switched out a pair of EH 300B tubes and put in TJ mesh-plates from DIY in Hong Kong.  I really did not expect to hear much of a difference, but it was like I had a different amplifier (Wright Sound Mono 7).  The sound stage got wider and there was more detail.  Amazing.  Well worth the expense.  Shipping time was two days from half way around the earth.

The only bad part was the globs of solder on the ends of the pins.  I had to file it off to get the tubes into the sockets.

Mike,

I also have the Mono 7s and WLA 12A linestage. I switched EHs to Sophia Princess meshplates (same, no?). Results were the same. I also changed the rest of tubes in the amps (NOS Mullard GZ34 rectifier and NOS 40's RCA 6SN7 black plate/black glass. Much better sound overall. Swapped all tubes in the pre as well. It was definitely worth the $$.
