Ever feel like an audio Sneetch?

I think Dr Seuss got it right and was really writing about typical audiophiles :) and I can relate to the plain bellied Sneetches wanting stars on their bellies. I have a nice system that has been tweaked many times over the years and I still find myself wanting whatever the latest gotta have being posted at Audiocircle. http://www.uulongview.com/sermons/bellies_with_stars.html

Its part of the human condition to want what we don't have, especially if its beyond our grasp.  It explains the desire for ever more money, sex, power, and whatever that derives from these things.  This pheonenom is a near constant for the vast majority of audiophiles.  Few find long term satisfaction with their equipment and just enjoy the music for years at a time.

But gloating about it is quite another matter.  Because audio is such a lonely past time I find far more willingness to invite and share than snobiness.  Many are proud of their systems without being snobs.  There are enough differences in tastes, priorities, interests, and circumstances to support many different types of audiophiles.
