Hi Brian ,first of all ,I love the more conservative room treatment , astheticlly speaking.Second, why no VLA?. If this hasn't already explained , forgive me , I'll look on a different topic. And lastly could you possibly offer your line of speakers ,as an option with no wavegide package ?

Just take the waveguide off if you don't want to use it.

I recently set up a pair of maxed-out RM40's for a gentlemen who works at a local animation house (yes, that one).  His untreated 14x30' living room was the venue and the associated gear all pro sound stuff.  In this environment the sound was best with one waveguide on and one off.  Two waveguides sounded too smooth, and none was too harsh and much less realistic.

Hello Stan,

This show was in a hotel room on the 10th floor of the Marriott Denver Tech Center. The room is roughly 13' x 19'. It was all I could do to fit the RM 60s, the VSS, rack, tube amps, 6) RealTraps Mini-Traps, and the laptop with all the music on it in the room. We barely had room for 6 listeners at a time. Of those 6 chairs, only the first row of 3 could really hear what the speakers could do. The second row was too close to the back wall. The VLA would just be TOO BIG for that sized room.

There are no larger rooms available at RMAF for a reasonable fee. They also go very quickly.

Brian came out to the first RMAF along with his wife. He found the low humidity and high altitude not to his liking. As the local VMPS sales rep, I have displayed at the last two shows. Brian's main show is at CES. I believe he will use these same speakers in the small hotel room in Las Vegas.

Thanks Brian and Wayne, well noted and understood. I guess what I'm try to say is that from a visual stand point , ie first impressions , like it or not this has a major impact / influence and subjective thoughts on what a speaker system SHOULD and will sound like . Not to mention getting it's well deserved photos-(with VLAs) included in all the major publications. That's all I'm try to say. Sound wise , there's no one more trust than Brian.

Hi Stan,

I might expand on your question, and say that you of course "can" order the non-CDWG set up version of any speaker, which may be of interest to those who are "sweet seat only", nearfield listening Audiophiles.

This would entail crossover differences, and "not" dehorning the tweeter.

It would also be good for smaller rooms, or rooms with narrow walls that might not benefit from high dispersion, and directivity.

So in essence, you can "have it your way". :thumb:
