If it wasn't for Scott's above-and-beyond help, I'd be going to RMAF with a totally half-assed speaker, or nothing at all.  But thanks to him I have a pretty trick woofer cabinet completed and ready to rock  :drums:

So it's with my powers bestowed upon me that I name today, 10/5, Scott Faller day.  How about a round of applause!

First dibs on them in my room when we get back from the show.

On a side note, the treatments should be at my house today.  We need to arrange a time for me to bring them over to you.

Haha, that's cool ... I'd love to bring them over.

I could probably come by Sunday evening to pickup the panels, around 7pm.  Or I could get them Monday.

Sunday might be workable but you'll need something bigger than your RX-7

Will give you a call.

We now return this thread to it's original content.

....well gee guys

It was fun putting the shop into its first full production run. After seeing and learning more about Ryan's speakers, they are anything but a 'me too' design. They are definitely different and knowing the drivers and design, I'll bet once he gets them voiced, they should sound pretty darned sweet.

I'm really anxious to hear them too....except being driven by.....(what else but) tubes

We also talked about a few alternative designs for the Lowther OB's. Should be fun playing with a couple of them. That and building some additional high efficiency, SET friendly speakers.

It was all great fun. Anybody need some sawdust?  :green:

Oh Ryan.....We need pics of the finished speakers  :thumb:

Pics are coming, my body shop guys says they'll be ready Monday afternoon.  Of course that means 36 straight hours of measurements and voicing to get them ready for RMAF ... I better catch up on sleep before then :)

Scott has me convinced to give some high-efficiency designs, quality drivers are available ... you just gotta know where to look.   I have drivers here for a planned 2-way bookshelf that should get 91-92db, and an F3 probably around 45-50hz.  Also have a design on paper that would be a wide baffle - Strad'esque, 3-way that would get around 96db and F3 down into the low 30's.  Both will be fun to try, and would give me a chance to try some flea amps.

And believe it or not, this 3-way waveguide/open baffle design should be over 90db efficient, maybe as high as 91.5.

That was quite a pile of sawdust wasn't it!  I took home quite a bit with me, matted in my hair ... but finally remembered to wear a mask when doing routing, I'd rather kill my lungs with tasty cigars than with MDF.
