Sony DVP-NS999ES SACD player, ModWright modded to completely bypass the output section and come direct off the DAC giving a smoother, more detailed presentation. This *custom* mod is close to the Basic mod, less op-amps and including a bit of messing around with the analog signal and placing of high-quality coupling caps. It also includes physical dampening of the transport section - with what looks like lead weights in some places.
This player will work great with all but very low-gain preamps because the output of the 999ES DAC is quite high. I used this with a Decware tube preamp and also without a preamp with both the Charlize and KingRex Tripath based amps and the combo had plenty of gain and sounded great.
Absolutely TOP NOTCH sound for a silly-stupid low price!
