This is one very lucky boy. Talk about a great system. At that age, I don't even think I listened to music... unless it was some Chipmunks Christmas album..

Underneath the cd player are Mozart Violin concerti by Stern, very good recordings in pristine condition, he loves them!
Can you imagine... he likes Mozart at 7 years old?

Tickles me Pink!   :thumb:

I can buy stuff for son, what can my wife say?? If it were for me though?

Well you know the rest :nono:

Oh lordy, lordy, lordy. I hope you've started an audio system upgrade account in addition to that college fund. You know how tough on the pocket it is when he start asking for his own Ongaku.

Cool, beans, though. When I was his age I was listening to an all-in-one denim-printed vinyl covered plastic record player from Sears. Good to see he's getting a good start on good sound.

Just remember to teach him to love good music and musicianship, not just good gear!

Best,
KT

Ok,  a few more changes
New speakers( well, different) GR Research AV2's

Lehmann audio Black Box phono pre

Speakers are fast but need a sub, and the phono pre definitely helps alot
He loves Fleetwood Mac :thumb:
Can't really get a good soundstage, and the Marantz definitely provides a nice lack of air
but he really enjoys it.  Remember the good old days when we just enjoyed music, no matter how shitty the system, he is at that stage, but it sounds a lot better than what most of us grew up with.

Great album to listen to on vinyl.  List4ened to tghat one a lot in many a stereo shop back in the late 70s.

I've got a nice HW-19 here for him when he's ready :D.

You have a lucky kidm, and you're a lucky dad.

You know, at first I wasn't going to say anything..   but when I saw the picture I couldn't help but notice that your kid is wearing nearly the same darned thing I had on today.  Same style sweater, pants with the knees worn down, even the same freaking socks. What can I say, the kid has a good sense of style

As an aside, topround, I wonder how Danny will take to the AV2's being used in the same post as "shitty".

Most of his clothes are hand me downs from his cousin, hence the worn out look.

And I meant no offense to Danny, I meant to say most of us grew up with shitty systems, he is not!
Lack of air is the Marantz problem and lack of soundstage is just speaker setup problem.
I had those speakers in my main system and they sounded real good.

And he has his own sense of style. Notice the jewelery he bought from the 50 cent vending machines at the bowling alley.

He has good taste in music too.

Chair Guy,
He learned the lean from the man himself in person!!
And he doesn't like beer, but he likes wine! What seven year old likes the taste of wine?
Good thing we don't leave any half empty wine bottles around the house  :wine:

That Marantz reciever reminds me of the first one I owned in the Army. It was pretty damn nice back in the day with a set of AR-3a bookshelves.I think the Marantz was a model 22 or something like that. We're talking about 1970 here,,, a long time ago. The FM tuner in that reciever was super, that much i remember.  :D
