Nah, true, punk isn't about musicainship, its about good tunes and attitude over self indulgent noodling. I was listening to never mind the bollocks last night and that album really has stood the test of time. The police however.........(used to like 'em when I was a kid but I grew out of it

). For those of you who look down your nose at punk, have a look around and see how many kids are getting about wearing police, dire straights or genesis t-shirts. I'm not bagging those bands, but I'ts impossible do deny the continuing influence of bands like the pistols on popular music and culture (for the best or othewise). As a disclaimer, I dont beleive that there is good music or bad music, just music you like and music you don't. (and I am also partial to a bit of self indulgent noodling myself from time to time).
I'm reminded of a review of a puff daddy or p diddy or howdy doody or whatever he calls himself "remix" of every breath you take, "sean coombes does to the police whayt they did to reggae 20 years earlier"

Cheers
Steve
