I do especially like the music reviews.  I like the fact that Tone is broader than the typical Jazz and Classical reviews..  Although I don't mind those genres, they are definetly not the norm in my house.  What was up with the Zeitgiest review though?  I'm from Chicago so been listening to SP for a while and dang this is one of their bottom three albums.

I'm a, well was a big smashing pumpkin fan and that album definitely blew hard. Hey let me make an album that sounds like sp but just isn't!

Anyways tone kicks ass! Keep it up.

Congrats to you and your team Jeff!

And yeah - Zeitgiest certainly didn't 'bring the light'.

Sorry on the Zeitegiest album, but I really do like it and the response I've gotten
from other freinds of mine has been the same.

Rolling Stone magazine gave "A Bigger Bang" by the Rolling Stones five stars earlier
this year and I thought it was a piece of crap.  Music is always pretty personal, so it's
hard to quantify that.  Sometimes you win, sometimes you dont!

But we will reach out to more music going forward.  The new issue due out right
after RMAF will have four live show reviews, a great article on the future of hip hop
and an article from Ben Fong-Torres (former senior editor at Rolling Stone) who
is now OUR music editor.

We are very excited to have a man of Ben's experience and vision on board!

You can expect to see a lot more, and a lot more diverse music coverage as
we go forward.  Ben has brought some really good ideas along for next year!

Stay tuned!!

Or Penn State grads reveal it all and Regas new integrated amp?

Jeff,

That is phenomenal, kudos to you and your staff.  I really enjoy the music review bias direction you are taking.

And speaking of music...I have to chime in and agree with Zero regarding the latest 'pumkins.  Zeitgiest certainly didn't 'bring the light' for me either.  Imho, the pumkins damn near peaked on Gish.  Siamese Dream was ok.  The song that blew my mind was hearing "Drown" from the  Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.  That made the hair on the back on my neck stand up. :o  I think that is still my fav. movie soundtrack.

If you want to hear a really good contemporary Smashing Pumpkins album, get a copy of the Silversun Pickups - Carnavas.  I heard them open this spring for Wolfmother and they blew the doors off.  It was like watching an (early) pumkins tribute band.  They even have a cool hot chick on bass, Nikki, that is kind of a D'arcy knock off.

Ciao,
Kenreau

But the reason I liked this SP album is because I didn't like the others,
so it all makes sense to me.

You guys don't like this one because you like the other ones....

The SP just arent the same band after that dude OD d. Best album by far. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, then Gish, then Siamese dream.
I think Billy Corgans brain became bloated with self love. Once that happens forget it. Just my opine. Onion
