I've been quite pleased with my AV-3's and now that they are done (mostly) I'll be looking to upgrade my old Yamaha home theater receiver to something else in the future.  I'm curious what other folks have happily paired with the AV-3 speakers.  I'll be looking to spend no more than $1000, hopefully less, but for the purpose of this thread price is no barrier.

If this is to far off topic let me know, but I figure there are lots of value conscious people around here.

I've owned the ATI 1202 for a couple of years now, and run it up against some great amps. I'm very pleased with it's outright performance. Factor in the modest price, and it's got a tremendous price/performance ratio.

I've got 2 of them now, and am running them in a vertical bi-amp arrangement.

I use an Audio Aero Prima MKII tube hybrid integrated amp.  New I think it was around $2000 maybe a bit more but from time to time I've seen one on audiogon going around your budget.  I love the sound of this amp, it's based on a mini tube and a mosfet amp, very sweet sound.  You could also check for a used Red Wine Audio Signature 30, now that the 30.2 has been announced, there are some used for sale around your budget.   Your A/V-3 definitely deserve a better amp than a Yamaha HT receiver, you will have quite an improvement with a good stereo integrated amp.

Thanks for sharing guys.  I used your information as a springboard for some research, and as long as I buy used there seems to be lots of options for amplification that will fit my budget.  At present I'm looking for a used ATI 1202, or 1502 which is an older model, but keeping my eyes open for other options as well.  The next step will be figuring out how to get a clean signal there to amplify.
