Circle Name Change
« on: 16 Sep 2007, 04:22 pm »
I have been informed by James Tanner that Bryston is no longer a distributor of PMC speakers.

Therefore, the Bryston/PMC Owners Circle will soon be renamed to the Bryston Owners Circle.

Please keep the discussion of PMC products in the Bryston Owners Circle limited to instances
where they are used in conjunction with Bryston gear.

I am looking into the possibility of creating a separate PMC Owners Circle.
I need to determine the amount of industry support and member support
for a PMC Circle. I'm not sure whether we would have to follow the official
audiocircle procedure for creating a separate PMC Circle yet. In the meantime,
your feedback on a separate PMC Circle would be appreciated.

Thanks, Steve

I'll admit I'm confused.   I thought Bryston & PMC had split some time ago - or was that for the US only?

Does this have any impact PMC continuing to license amp designs from Bryston for their active speakers?

Lastly,  what precipitated this latest announcement / event?

The first split was US only.

PMC will continue to use Bryston in their big active systems.

I don't know why Bryston is no longer the Canadian PMC distributor.

I think you should drop the PMC part.  We get a lot more threads on Bryston products than we do with PMC products.  The only reason to keep the circle name if there was a real close official / unofficial working relationship kind of like Linn (when they only made tables and speakers) and Naim (when they only made electronics).

Edit - doh - just noticed the circle has already been renamed to just Bryston.

PMC (UK) and the new Canadian PMC Distributor did not respond to my e-mails asking
if they wish to participate in a PMC Owner's Circle. PMC (USA) did respond and they
agreed to participate but I haven't been able to make contact in 4 weeks now.

So unless something changes, I'm not going to work any further on setting up a
PMC Owner's Circle.

Hi jethro,

I think a lot of companies see these discussion groups as not being advantages to their overall business. It tends to make public issues that they consider are better left alone.

Just Look at all the trouble I have gotten into over the years!

James:

I just don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about companies that don't return e-mails.
There aren't too many companies that won't respond.

BTW, we all appreciate that you allow us to put you on the spot.

Hey James,

No company is perfect but an honest, transparent and open door policy to customers produces tremendous customer loyalty.  When customers can hear the facts straight from company executives rather than through press releases, the message has greater weight.

Keep up the great customer service.

Well the lines of communication have opened up a bit.

I've decided to go ahead with a proposal for a PMC Speakers Owners Circle.

Please see the poll at

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=48123.0

The poll is only open for 7 days so please take a look soon.

Thanks, Steve
