I have flip-flopped between building an amp for my office and improving my home's Aikido preamp PSU.  Given that I cannot afford to build an amp for my office, other than buying a section each month, I have decided to upgrade the PSU in my Aikido, as I believe that I can do it for less than $100.00 and the transformers are a little buzzy.

This is what I have come up with:

Hammond T370FX  275-0-275  @ 150mA
5V4GA (already own)
200R resistor in series with "+ve"
1.5uF cap  (already own)
10H choke (already own)
80uF cap
10H choke (already own)
100uF cap

In PSUDII with 30mA current, I get around 323VDC with 413uV of ripple.

Do you think that this would make a good PSU?  I can tune the B+ up and down using the 1.5uF cap, lower uF for lower B+.

I can buy large motor-run caps at a local surplus store, otherwise I have two 60uF's already.

The Hammond would allow me to run the 5V rectifier heater, and my 6.3V DC rectified 6SN7 heaters.

If anyone with PSUD could model it and comment on problems (if any) I would be really, really grateful.  I can put together a .psu of it and post it on the form tomorrow.  I cannot do it from home as I do not have a PC.

Thanks,

Charlie
