Denon announces new DVD-5900
« on: 2 Sep 2003, 05:52 am »
I just saw at http://highfidelityreview.com that Denon will be bringing out a new Universal Uber Player this month.  It has DVI, Alpha 24, bass management & channel delay for DVD-A & SACD, as well as a hi rez digital output.  Pretty much everything I new existed and a few things I didn't.  MSRP is $2k.  I'm drooling already...

Old news  A fairly hefty price..but if things work out..this will be THE player to own for A/V. I'll be looking forward to the reviews :D

Did a little housecleaning, SD.  As for the 5900, I haven't seen any reviews yet, but it does look promising.  Hopefully it'll take the (reportedly) excellent audio performance of the 2900 and take it up a notch.

It's probably a bit out of my price range right now (I have 3 Le Amp II's on order- I'll have to pay for 'em if MB ever ships them  ), but maybe down the road.  Of course, the technology should trickle down eventually.

Hopefully soon Universal players will be the norm.  Not that dedicated SACD or DVD-A players will or should go away, it's just that for a lot of folks, one machine to play all discs makes a lot of sense.  I see Yamaha has a new one on the way, too.
