Does anyone listen to XRCD's or XRCD24's? I find that the recording quality and fidelity to be excellent on these disc's, much better in many instances than redbook Cd's, although they are expensive- $20-40 per CD. http://www.xrcd.com/tech/xrcd24a_e.htmlhttp://www.dagogo.com/JVCXRCD24SAJLodwick03264.htmlI also like to buy hybrid SACD's as I have found the recordings to be of better quality even when played on standard CDP's.
K2 is perty good, IMO. Yeah, Mapleshade gets a bad rap a lot. The guy is a purist who records it like it is. He sets em up, they play, that's what you get. The groups never sound too terribly rehearsed, do they? And he has a distain for compression. That's probably why I like some of his stuff so much. I been in a lot of clubs in my day and a lot of his stuff reminds me of a table very close to the stage. You ever hear Elvin Jones like I've heard Elvin Jones and you may have some respect for the sound the ole Mapleshade maestro allows. It's perty nekkid.
