Eat you heart out
--I just got back from a nice listening session in Danny's living room. I heard the LS-6's perhaps 18 mo. ago and was blown away with the ease in which they recreated detail with precise soundstage. . . . .The LS-9's powered by Gary's monster amps just did everything that the 6's did, with even more clarity and a seriously bad attitude towards anything that dared approach 20 Hz.
I do envy your experience, as you were able to listen to both models set up in the same place. I did get to hear both at the RMAF this last weekend (about a total of 45 min for the LS-9, and about 2.5 hours total for the LS-6.)
However, these were in different rooms with different amps, different sources and different recordings (LS-9 ----dual mono 50 watt Red Rock Renaissance Amplifiers in a suite sized room, LS-6 ----Dodd's ginormous gorgeous big blue monos, in a standard sized hotel room) so a true comparison was limited. The GR Research room had the LS-6s, and the Red Rock room had the 9s.
Danny did an admirable job in setting up the LS-6s and tuning them AND the room.

In fact, I remember telling him that he had the best tuned room in the place.
