My 3 year old Omega TS-1 loudspeakers are for sale. They were purchased new in May 2004 for $799 from Bill Baker (Response Audio) who at that time was a dealer for Louis. The finish on the speakers is a light cherry veneer.

The drivers are the 8 inch Fostex 207E. I have powered them mainly with the Diytube ST35 amplifier, and for a short while, with the Charlize TA2020 amp. Right now, I alternate between the ST35 and the Hawthorne audio Spud. The speakers seem to have a great synergy with all the above amplifiers.

I have modified the speakers somewhat:
  • Planet 10 phase plugs are installed. This is a non-reversible mod.
  • Baffle Step Correction circuit as per M. J. King's calculator. This modification is reversible. The BSCC reduces the sensitivity a little bit, but an amp with about 5-6W should be more than sufficient.

Louis does not sell the TS-1's any more, but you can find reviews on the web:

http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/omegats1ts3_e.html and http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/1002/omegats1.htm

Cosmetic issues: there are marks on the underside of the speaker from being placed on stands (Skylan). On one speaker, a dime-sized portion of the veneer on the bottom has come off - happened when I was lifting the speaker off the stand. Also, I stupidly placed tweeters on top of the speakers with the tweeter magnets directly on the veneer. This produced some scratches on the veneer.

These speakers would be ideal if you are thinking of setting up a secondary audio system, or even as your main speakers if you are starting out in this hobby. Or maybe you simply want to check out what the single-driver sound is all about. I really like them. My reason for selling is that I want to try out open baffle speakers (Silver Iris is what I have in mind), and cannot bring more equipment into the house without first taking something out.

Asking price is US$350.00 for the pair of speakers. Payment is by money order or cashier's check.

Shipping: I would really prefer a local pickup (Ann Arbor, MI), but do not mind shipping within the continental US. I do have the original boxes that Louis shipped the speakers in. BSCC components will have to be removed and packed separately as they are not secured to the speaker cabinet. The ERSE super-q inductors are quite heavy. To put back the BSCC, some soldering/wiring will be required. Or, you could use the speakers without the BSCC.

Shipping should be around $50. I will refund the difference if less than $50.

Skylan stands: These are 24" tall, and filled with sand. Price for these is US$50/pair. No shipping, pickup only.

Well, thanks for looking. Please send me a PM if interested.

Best regards,

Ashok

Bump and price drop to $350 for the speakers and $50 for the stands.
