Bi-wiring from by 4BST
« on: 4 Sep 2007, 08:02 am »
Hi everyone - newbie here with my first question.

I went from an Audiolab 8000P, where I bi-wired my Audio Vector 5's, to my Bryston 4BST(Pro). The trouble is, the Bryston only has one set of speaker posts. Is it worth bi-wiring onto the one set of posts on the Bryston or should I stick to one cable run?

Thanks in anticipation.

A further possibility from my post above is that I could tri-wire, as the AV's a have three sets of binding posts. With respect to the above post, is there any mileage in tri-wiring back to the one set of posts on the Bryston?

My understanding is that bi-wiring is always accomplished from a single set of posts on the power amp, connected with appropriately split speaker cables to dual sets of posts on the speaker. Why do you feel the Bryston is any different?

Hi All,

One option is to use a Spade and an Expandable Banana at the speaker outputs on 2 sets of wires.

Bruce - that might be true in the majority of cases but not so with the Audiolab, which had four posts per channel - which is why I asked. I'm sure they were linked inside the box and were presented that way to make bi-wiring an easier option.

Can anyone, James or other, recommend such items, with possible links? Bearing in mind I'm from the UK. Thanks

The speaker outputs accept spades, bare and bananas so I this is what I am doing too. Spades for speakers, bananas for subs. Unless the 4BST speaker outputs are different from 4BSST this will work for you too.
