What's this one called?

I bought his last one (At least I think it was - 2003's Diamonds on the Inside) - on luscious vinyl. Ben is so cool he usually has them on CD and vinyl for us

Ben is one of my favorite artists and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND seeing him perform!

It is quite a treat to hear and see him work his magic.

I just bought the CD today and found I cannot play it on my computer. I can play it on my CD player but can't rip it to disk, which is bad because I play almost all of my music using my SB3. My PC won't even recognize that there's a CD in the drive. I've tried 3 drives, none work. I like the CD but I may return it on principle if I can't get around this. This is the first CD I've had this problem with out of over 400 CDs.

If anyone knows how I can rip it to my hard disk, please let me know.

This is a great album and is well recorded (does NOT sound like anything like poorly recorded and overprocessed digital)... I'm enjoying it and with "Both Sides of the Gun" (disc 1 so far). Different style, but both are really good!

Listening to it right NOW. Oh, wow. BH at his best. Such incredible range, passion and virtuosity. He's one of the all-time greats, and this is certainly one of his best albums. Truly a tour de force.

I've had a difficult time connecting with Ben's releases since Free Your Mind.
Both Sides of the Gun, didn't live up to the hype, as it failed to impress me with exception of a few tracks.

I'd like to give this one a listen, but ripping will be a must. I'll need to get the facts straight on that issue.

I'm listening to Free Your Mind now and WOW, it still gives me chills. This album has visceral, and textured bass, and continues to be my reference in this regard.

Yup, me too, I totally get the chills each and every time I hear the CD (thanks again to WolfyChris for making a copy of the NYAR disc set with it on it).

That guy was in a helluva' place in his life when he wrote that one...it's truly one of the best albums I've ever heard

I saw a tv documentary about the Funk Brothers called "Standing in the Shadows Of Motown" recently and was knocked out by a number of artists who recreated classic Motown hits. Ben Harper, w/ the Funk Brothers, performs "Aint Too Proud to Beg" and "I Heard it through the Grapevine." My first contact with him and I was wondering where to start, he records and releases on vinyl?
BTW, catch the show if you can. Joan Osborne, whom I had completely forgotten about was absolutely killer on "Heat Wave" and "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted."

I would say that "Lifeline" is pretty darn good and way better than "Both Sides of the Gun".

It isn't his best work, but I would say it is "must" own for any Ben Harper fan.
