AV123 Onix X-ls with Skiing Ninja Master Crossovers w/ Norez

SOLD SOLD SOLD PRICE: $425 SHIPPED  SOLD SOLD SOLD

Condition:

I am the second owner of this speakers, the original had them for less then one month before upgrading to Minis.  They are in immaculate condition with the only blemish being a slight smudge mark on one of the grilles.  It is located in the lower left of one of the grilles and I couldn't get it to come out in the pictures, it is a slight smudge which looks like something is stuck to it.  I have a feeling goo-gone will fix it but alas I am out.  Besides that the speakers appear perfect.

Terms:

These speakers will be shipped with the standard double box with custom foam as well as the manual (3 hole punched).   These will be shipped insured via FedEx.  Accepting Paypal (add 1.5%), money order, or personal check from buyers who have verifiable good feedback.

Description:

For those who don't know the X-ls are a heavy duty bookshelf speaker for those on a budget.  They utilize a 1in fabric dome tweeter and a 6.5in woofer.  The speakers are 17lb each and are constructed extremely well with lots of internal bracing.

These speakers have won many awards and are thought of as an extreme bargain in the world of Hi-fi.  The mods take these to the next level.  Review  These sold for $279/pr when released and the mods were an additional $513 bringing the total price to $792.

These are a very unique pair, as you can see they are in Ferrari Red finish.  It is my understanding that there were only 16 pairs of these made making these a collectors item.  I have never heard of any other pairs having the ninja mods so these should be the best sounding ones ever made.

I have a feedback rating of 75 on Audiogon under Gaara and 45 on Ebay under Gaara925.

Thanks.

Jared

Jared,

Need some clarification cause I may be missing something here. According to the link for the Skiing Ninja Master Crossovers w/NoRez kit, the price for the upgrade per pair is $272. Can you clarify? Not trying to stir trouble, but since you gave us the link to check...

None of your pictures show up as well.

Thanks,
Anand.

You have anew price of $729, what are you selling them for, as the second owner

BradJudy

Yes, Skiing Ninja upgrades are per pair, so this pair should have an original price of ~$550.

Sorry for the confusion everyone, let me answer some ?s.

Anand,

The mods and no rez can be sold in kit form or performed by Sean himself.  It looks like the kit is currently $272 and then you install it all yourself, but I don't see a price if you send in the speakers and let Sean do it for you.  The price I got from when I originally purchased them in this thread over on AV123.  Hopefully that clarifies.

None of the pictures show up, is this a issue for anyone else?  I can see them fine on my PC and on our second one as well?

Zapper7,

As was noted by BradJudy the price is below the name and is $425 shipped in the continental US.

PMs are being responded to now.

Thanks for the interest thus far.

Those look familiar.

 :D

I had Sean install the upgrades before he shipped them to me. I don't think he does installs anymore. You can only buy the crossovers and NoRez as a DIY kit.

Pictures really don't do those speakers justice.

Here's a bump from a question. What is the sensitivity and resistance?

I think you mean what is the sensitivity and impedance:wink:

The answer is in the link he provided in his first post. 87 dB at 1 meter with 1 watt of power and 8 ohms nominal are the answers. The bare minimum impedance is 5 ohms. So really any amplifier applies. However, little flea powered 1 watt and 3 watt amps won't give much grunt. I say 10 watts minimum in a small 10ft by 10 ft room.

Best,
Anand.

Ron,

Thanks for the clarification post.

I just read through the review at tone audio again and the way it reads they quite $300-$500 additional for Sean to upgrade them as opposed to a DIY job, assuming he is still  performing the mods himself.

Anand,

Thanks for posting the info, your doing all the work for me.

I assume any change to sensitivity or impedance caused by the changes to the xover would be slight and not worth mentioning.

To all, I personally ran these with a 10wpc Trends TA-10.1 near field and was happy with the results.  YMMV.
