Buying Used Vinyl Online

I bought 4 used LP's from various sources on GEMM back on August 8th.  I thought I'd comment on my experience and ask whether others had similar experience.
To date, today is the 28th, I have received only 2 of the LP's and one of those is from Austria.  The one from Austria was graded mint and it was.  The one from a concern in Florida was graded mint and it wasn't.  I actually got the wrong record from these folks, I ordered "Blind Faith" and got "Blind Date."
They were quick to rectify their mistake and at their expense.
The cost of shipping, mostly USPS Media Mail, has raised the price so high that I figure on more trips to Princeton Record Exchange, whose selection has dwindled greatly and prices have risen slightly.  Still a better alternative than waiting a month for dubious quality.

I've never purchased from GEMM for this same reason, the vendors are all over the world and its tough to know who is good, and who is bad.  Seems like the prices are high too.

I purchased a few hundred new & used LP's on ebay and never had an issue...except with paying $5 for shipping.   The larger vendors with good feedback seem to treat me right.

I've had good luck on eebay, suprisingly and yes, they charge too much for shipping, but everyone does. I've recently purchased 4 (used) Andreas Vollenweider albums from Acoustic Sounds library. They were not graded, but all 4 were nm- in vinyl and cover. I don't mind paying a little extra for near mint and you can reduce the shipping costs (per album) if you can find a bunch in one place. On line really seems to be the only place to find the even slightly hard to find labels and artists.

Yeah, the trouble with Princeton Record Exchange, if there is one, is that you have to go with an open mind and convince yourself to keep it reasonable.  But you can't go with specific titles in mind or you'll go nuts.  For specific stuff I guess its GEMM or ebay.  The thing is whether I know the title or not, by my figuring only about a third of what I buy ends up hitting that spot that means getting repeated playtime.  Maybe less than that.  Its the wonderful surprises that make it nice.

i have gotten EXACTLY what i paid for and the grading is perfect plus the shipping containers are superb.  i save them all for mailing any vinyl i have to mail.

my copy of blues in orbit was advertised as mint minus which means that all you can detect is that the cello has been removed.  yup, thats what arrived!  its a classic reissue that i paid him $30 plus shipping for and it was worth every penny.
