Stereomojo is having a small speaker shootout.  They are accepting nominations from readers.  Price has to be less than $1000.00   They have over 60 nominations so far.  Much will depend on whether a manufacturer is willing to participate.

The price limit appears to be $1,000.00 USD per pair.

I assume that's $1000 for a finished pair, as opposed to a kit? I would think some of the best speakers to be had for under a grand would be from DIY kits.

I would also assume that the price ceiling is intended for completed speakers. 

Kits range from raw parts plus plans, to panelized (knocked down) cabinets, to pre-assembled crossovers, to everything but mounting parts and applying the veneer, to pre-finished cabinets and installing parts.  That, plus the work to build speakers, covers too much ground, even with lots of MOJO.

Gosh, is this a popularity contest or will there be a true audio shoot out?  If it is the first, then I wonder what would be the point?  I hope is the later.  The list has some really extremely different executions.  Almost like judging interplanetary species.
