Stereo garage sale this weekend
« on: 16 Aug 2007, 03:18 pm »
New to this forum, but known to more than a few here...having a clean out sale this Saturday starting at 7:30 am in Mehlville, and there will be some good (and very good) gear.

I'll copy the Craigslist post if it is OK. Feel free to call me for directions and with any questions. There are only a few items that are barn fresh - most everything has been sorted and is fully functional, or Mike and Zaw have specced it at Alpha Audio recently.

Thanks,
Dave

Sorry I missed your Garage sale.  Any good stuff left that you want to go but did not sell?

Sure, you can post a copy of the list.  If you are willing to ship you can post that too.

I posted the garage sale with hope that local interested people would come - and none did. The only people who showed were those who I had previous dealings with, and they got some very good deals. Maybe most everyone here likes newer stuff. I took out the shopping list a few days after that weekend, as ther was no need to have a shopping list out for possible miscreants.

I will probably Ebay the rest, as two responses a month later are not good signs. At least I got an offer of $125 for a working Dynaco Mk III with original Genelec KT88 outputs. :P

Hey Dave.

I missed the original post as I'm sure some others did too.  Sounds like it would have been a fun afternoon.  Depending on what's still around, if you just posted the list here, I'm sure you might get more interest.

I've been considering REALLY moving to the dark side, and buying a turntable.  Do you have anything?

Well I might not need a turntable now after-all.  The guy who cuts my hair of all people told me today he has a Linn Sondek in storage that he's not using, and I can have it if I recone and rebuild his original Allison One's.  Hells yea I said!

Well there ya go. If ya wants ta play around and tweak a 'table, that's the one that's likely been tweaked more than any other.  Linn has made a business of adding tweaks for that table for close to 30 years now.

It's finicky as all get out but it does swing if you get it right.

I've finished the latest round of honey-do projects at home, and had time to post some gear for sale on Craigslist.

The Klipsch Fortes are already sold. The Bryston 3B ST had a new transformer installed at the factory under warranty, the McIntosh MC 250 and Sansui G9000 DB were both worked on by Mike(Alpha Audio) and exceed original performance specs. The Fisher 400 tube receiver works, is missing the usual knob faces, and has a weak channel, but no hum or buzzes. The Marantz 7T is solid, clean, and original.

Note that the Fisher is the ONLY piece of tube gear. The Mac and Marantz are both solid state.

Ping Scott F.:
Don't you have a Marantz 7T in your basement? Nice piece Dave. How much?

Well, um......What's that cool looking brushed aluminum solid state rig you modded. The XO/EQ thingy that has adjustable slopes? It sits front and center in your blue room equipment rack, just below knee high? The thing I was drooling over a while back?

Bob - confused

Oh, that thing. It's my Pioneer SF850 active three way crossover. I use it as a 2 way XO between the 15" Goodmans and the Lowthers. I rebuilt and tweaked the power supply in that one. It's got Elna Cerifine's with Beeswax bypass caps in it  :green:

I've also got an Audio Research EC-3 tubed 3 way XO on the shelf just waiting for me to rebuild the power supply and upgrade the coupling caps. That one is going to get a little pricey. It uses 12, 12AX7's and has a dozen coupling caps not including the actual XO caps that need to be upgraded. Oh, I want to upgrade the resistors in it too. That one of those "one of these days" projects. I've got way too many other things I want to build before I get to that one  :duh:

Ok, yea. It's the Pioneer I was thinking about.
The A.R. sounds like it's going to be pretty sexy looking when finished. Possibly "audio porn" with all those tubes!  aa

Thanks Scott

Bob, I'm asking $385. If you would like to kick the tires and hear it, give me a ring at 651-9396 and we can have a listening session.

Dave, I'll pass. I didn't *really* have a need for it, but couldn't resist the look. Stupid reason to buy equipment I know....
Too many other projects on the burner to buy something I don't have to have. Sorry if I got your hopes up Dave.
