James: question(s) about MM stage in the BP6P
« on: 14 Aug 2007, 08:56 am »
Is the MM stage equipped with a subsonic filter?

Also, what is the capacitance of the MM stage?

In addition, can the BP6P safely drive long cables? I'm using 33ft of interconnects between the BP6P and the 4BSST.

I looked in my owner's manual and I couldn't find anything related to my above questions.

Thanks. 8)

Sorry I did not see this earlier.

1. MM stage does not have a subsonic filter.
2. 220 picofarads capacitance
3. No problem driving 33 feet - the output impedance is very low on the preamp.

James--

No problem. Thanks for all of the info.

Anyway, is not having a subsonic filter a disadvantage?

Take care,

-Dave

Hi Dave,

I guess it depends on how you look at it - filter in the circuit path vs no filter in the circuit path.

Subsonic filters are designed to reduce the tonearm/cartridge resonance but you have to be careful, that the filter does not affect the low frequency response of your phono system.

By the way Dave I just got a superb review on the B60 SST with internal Phono stage in Europe. Email me at Bryston and I will send you a copy.  jamestanner@bryston.ca
