Finally, 99 Magnum back online!

My 99 magnum is back online! After several months down, during which I though it was electrical issues (which led to whole chain of events with a positive outcome, but maybe more on the later) my brother in law replaced the voltage regulator using parts received from Rogue. Which they sent at no charge. This in spite the fact that I bought the pre used, and way out of warranty. They didn't even charge me for UPS.

In an industry where charlatanry is common and belittle of customers by manufactures is not unknown, it is a great joy to deal with people like those at Rogue audio. The Marks Brothers are real gentlemen -as is Mick who sent me the parts at his own discretion - and we can always use more of those.

I'm not hesitant to squeal like, well, a pig (oh, man, bad imagery - get that movie out of your heads now) when things aren't as they should. It's only fair to make note of behavior "above and beyond."

Cool! While this isn't the first time i've heard folks rave about Rogue customer service, it's always good to read about more positive customer experiences! Especially since i, too, am a Magnum 99 owner! :)

Have you fiddle with tubes?

I had a very good experience replacing the old Soviet tubes with Sylvania chromedomes. I have a bit over a year on these and the show no signs of fatigue.

Ya know, I just have to laugh and even though this is "off topic", where in the world would you have a Killer Piglet, communicating with a MAd DOg about a Rogue????

On Topic, I spoke with Rogue just the other day and suggested to them that they look into getting a "CIRCLE" over here and also picked up the line for my clients.

I might "insert" one of their preamps in my system too since MAd Dogs sounded so good. 8)

You know what i noticed at Mad DOg's about his preamp.  Nothing...  I didn't really notice it, which meant it got out of the way and just let the music and rythm shine through.  That says a lot about the 99.  I'm sure Mad DOg will tube roll sooner or later

KP,

I haven't had the opportunity to mess w/ the tubes yet...I have just stepped into the world of tubes recently...thanks to Shokunin! :) I'm sure I'll start rolling soon as Shokunin said...

John and Shokunin,

Glad you guys liked the Rogue...We'll need to gather for another listening session again...Maybe this time we'll just hang out and enjoy more music instead of conducting comparisons...:)

Good to hear you picked them up. Hope it goes through for real  I think adding one of their preamps would be a great addition for your system..although I don't agree with the 99 not adding anything (although it doesn't add anything terrible..so you can indeed just listen to the music). Now you need to talk them into creating a hybrid..it can be named the 69
