You just caught me. I leave in a couple of hours.
Is it possible to make an open baffle line array?
Yes and I actually have quite a few versions on the drawing board. All are supported in some way by a sub tower with either side loaded 12" woofers or open baffle 12" woofers that are servo controlled. Six 12" woofers per speaker in most versions too. I really can't go into gooey details on them yet but they are in the works.
While in Dallas today I will be picking up 30 prototype woofers to use for testing the open baffle designs. They are similar to the LS series 6.5" woofers but are 8 ohms each instead of 4. Qts is in the .7 range too. Specs looked perfect. Now we'll see what I can do with them.
I know you cannot do everything, but being interested in your design philosophy, what lead you to make the LS-6/9 in preference to other high end options (possibly including an open baffle line array)?
Those two models were to replace the Alpha LS kit in our line up.
The open baffle line sources will be considerably more expensive due to powered sub arrays. I may not even release them as kits. I may market them through AV123. One version may be sold under Carnegie Acoustics (a new emerging company) as a flag ship statement speaker. Each version will be a little different.
