Mirage omnipolars vs Martin Logans
« on: 11 Aug 2007, 10:56 pm »
I went to Magnolia last night and ended up listening to some speakers. I first tried the Mirage omnipolar floorstanders. They sounded lifeless and dull. Very dissapointing. They had a pair of Martin Logans (listed at 1399/ea) adjacent to them so I gave them a shot. Man was it a change. I was surprised by how open they sounded. I'm not a huge fan of electrostats, but I was impressed.

The new Martin Logan speakers sound outstanding.  This includes the Summit, Vantage and Vista.  I've listened to all three of these and remain impressed with their ability to deliver that "reach out and touch me" soundstage, and rich in dispersion.  It's about as real as it gets.  Too pricey for me right now but, these are very well engineered speakers.
