Hi there, is this preamp dead quiet or is there hum, etc...

Did you get those 500Ms you were looking for?

The pre isn't dead quiet, it is pretty average with some hiss that can be heard with nothing playing from ~1-2ft away.  No hum through the speakers, and no mechanical hum.  Of course with any music playing you can't hear the hiss.

I will be getting them Monday via FedEx...Can't wait...
I loved the 100M in my system for a couple of weeks on trial from RIC, but in the end, I needed more juice and well, they didn't match too well with my room acoustics...  But man were the dynamics to die for and the extensions and imaging...haven't heard anything better...and I've had and heard lots in my system over the years...

Hm...let me get the 500 first and see how it goes, perhaps a the P-8 may be too lean paired with a switching amp...

Good to hear Sonny, so I assume you won't be grabbing this?

Get as quiet a pre as you can, the 500Ms are extremely quiet amps.

Well, I've been (still) using my Cyber 222 Preamp with 6sn7 tubes...It's been an amazing combination!!!
The bass is just there, tight, defined and fast...the mids are lush and sound almost like the My Cyber 800 monos, which by the way is for sale, but not as sweet, cuz realistically, there's just something in tubes!!!!

So far they are fine...love them!
And yes, at this time, unless I get some sales...I've spent enough this season.
