The 30W Antique Sound Lab AQ 1003DT has garnered much praise, but by applying quite a few very targeted modifications Bill Baker of Response Audio has taken it to a much higher level. This amp was purchased by the original owner in Aug 2005 and has over $1500 in mods including Bybee quantum purifiers on the B+ and Audio Points, as well as:

AQ 1003 DT Reference Modifications

    * Coupling capacitors replaced with Teflon V-Cap Reference Grade capacitors (x4 pieces)

    * Innerstage coupling capacitors replaced with Audience AuriCaps (x6 pieces)

    * SoniCap high voltage capacitors used for power supply bypass

    * Japanese Riken Ohm Carbon resistors used in grid stop locations (x4 pieces)

    * Japanese Riken Ohm Carbon resistors used in screen grid locations (x4 pieces)

    * Dale/Vishay 1 watt non-magnetic Metal Film resistors used throughout the signal path

    * Mills 12 watt non-inductive resistors used for output tube emitter/cushion resistors

    * Fairchild "Ultra Fast - Soft Recovery" rectifying diodes are utilized in the rectifying stage of the power supply.

    * All internal wiring replaced with our 22 awg copper wiring. We re-route all signal wiring to provide the shortest path possible. (10+ feet)

    * Biased then bench tested for 2 hours

    * Minimum 12 hour burn-in

    * Labor 6 hours

Included tubes are matched quad of JJ blue-glass cryo-treated EL-34's. (These are fantastic!) and EH 12AU7's.  30 watts, starts out in Class A, this is pentode PP.  Extremely fast, clear and accurate sound, wonderfully musical with plenty of richness and bass slam.

hi Steve I just ran across the user manual for the AQ1003----have you sold it?  If not, I'll post it  to you.
If so, could you forward this to the buyer??  THanks!

Terry on Vashon

   I now have a Baker Response Audio Bella Extreme. Nice Sound with 6550's!

Terry, I still have the amp so please mail the manual to me. Thanks!

Still for sale.

If you want to know how this amp sounds, ask kallitype (Terry), who I bought it from. I'm sure he'll give you a glowing review.

Latest price?

And is this an amp or integrated?

Thanks,

Gene

Gene,

It's an integrated and my current asking price is $950. Way less than it's worth.

bump----this is an incredibly musical amp,producing true to life-like sound.  Dead quiet backgound, too.  If you have speakers in the 88-89 dB efficient range, you would have to spend >$6000 to  match, let alone exceed the sound quality. Wonderful with Snell C speakers!!
