high-WAF bass traps
« on: 3 Aug 2007, 07:43 pm »
I have seen some of the DIY methods of putting the un-packed insulation rolls in the corner for bass traps.  This may not have a very high WAF though.  Is there any DIY methods, or I suppose any resonably priced pre-assembled bass traps?

WAF and proper acoustic panels/traps seem to be an oxymoron!

I too would be interested in suggestions or ideas.

I would look at doing something like a superchunk style corner trap that used a nice stained wood top plate and allow her to choose from fabric options to match her tastes.  Then let her put a picture frame, vase, nick-nacks, or whatever she wants on top.

The less DIY approach is to buy something like a GIK corner trap and then mount a basic corner shelf right above it for her to use for decorations.  GIK offers a few fabric choices to pick from too.  Some other places offer a full selection of GOM fabrics.

Yes I know what you mean.  It has taken a few years of conditioning to get this far.  It was partially her idea to redo the room into a dedicated theater.  Will be painting and putting up velvet curtains within a week or so.

It doesn't have to be extreme WAF but can't look fugly.

What is the depth required for a superchunk style?

The chunk style is the same size as our Tri Trap - 17x17x24 triangle - approx 4' high.

And BTW, we're experimenting with GOM cloth to potentially offer that as an option soon.
