Are manufacturer replies to inaccurate posts fair?

I just read one typed by Frank VanAlstine, and it seemed very fair.

It is here:

Absolutely! It would be fine to set the record straight. That is not advertising or promoting one's products.

Frank is not recommending that folks try his product in that reply - only explaining the design of his product so that it is not misrepresented.

Hello Dave! Manufacturer and dealer replies to inaccurate posts are certainly fair game as Mad Dog said. This is certainly not advertising, but informative knowledge, and usually only obtainable straight from the source. If people want to know about how something ticks, who better to explain than the manufacturer? Thank you for taking the time to keep all issues crystal clear!

Dave,
I don't think they want people using the non-mfg sections as a means to sell products.  Frank's response was to clear up some misinformation.

Lastly, if you are going to show any speakers at the Iowa DIY show, you may want to post it on your board.

Yup, I think it's the first two days of November.  I'm bringing my AVA stuff and maybe my Ellis.  I'll post a link as we get closer. There is a website somewhere with details.

I apprecaite you providing clarification on this issue.  The above post was my first in this particular forum.  I wanted to remain within the boundaries you set.  I also like to know the boundaries.
