Modded by Bill Thalman at Music Technologies.
This is what he did to the amp...
Replace the input connectors (RCAs) and binding posts with Cardas Rhodium connectors; replace high voltage rectifiers with hyperfast, soft-recovery diodes; reconfigure the input network to allow the use of better coupling caps into the first stage; improve the high voltage regulators for better sonics and somewhat lower noise, and finally, replace critical internal wiring with heavy gauge silverplate/Teflon wire (or pure silver, depending on application). I will also check the amp out thoroughly and check (or reset) the output bias and DC offset.
I paid Bill Thalman 500$ for this mod and would like to get (new price, 925$) for the amp.
It has a rich midrange and good soundstaging. 200 mosfet wpc.
I made two additional faceplates, one out of brushed 1/4" aluminum and one out of 3/8" phenolic plate that has a dark brown woodgrain look, w/o rack handle holes.
It also has a signal cable powercord and the original packaging.
Thanks for looking, Bill
