New Members Meet...
« on: 31 Jul 2007, 01:29 am »
I'd like to invite our newest members for a get together at my place this Saturday around 7. It's an informal meet with no real agenda other than to get some of the newest members together to share some music on my humble system. I'd like to limit the gathering to 3-5 people and keep the equipment auditions to minimum to none. This is just a chance to spin some tunes and get to know each other better. We might even break with tradition and shoot a game of pool!!  :o PM me if you can make it and I'll send you directions. Looking forward to getting to know you guys better.

Hey Steve, I PM'd you back about this.  I'll be out of town from this Sat to next Sat, but I get back in town at 10am next Sat.  So maybe a meet the afternoon or evening of 8/11?  Somebody else replied to the PM saying next Sat would be better as well ...

Good idea though, if I'm around for whenever you decide, I'll be there.

Thanks you very much for the invitation. However, following Saturday (11th) would work much better for me.

OK. It looks like Saturday, August 11 will work better for most of you so let's try that. Let's move things up too to 6PM if that's OK. PM me if you can make it and I'll get you directions.

I should be able to make it, but it's dependant on my flight back into STL that morning.   Send me directions and I'll plan on being there.

Yes I think we sent Docutech right over the edge.  :icon_twisted: Life as he knew it will never be the same.  :green: Was glad you, John Blaine, and Pete could make it. We also got to premiere what will be the first GAS release--the Dupre album. You guys gotta hear this one! Sorry more of you couldn't make it but then again, I'm not sure the AC would have cooled any more bodies. Yesterday was definitely a justification for SS equipment.

Steve,

Glad the meet went well. I can't wait to hear what will be our first GAS Reference Recording release. Hey, is there any chance I could stop by one evening and get a copy of it?

I know what you mean about the AC. With the 100+ degree temps, AC systems in St Louis are not designed to keep up. Our design temps are 95 degrees dry bulb (the temp you read on your thermometer)/78 wet bulb (saturated). Although I think ASHRAE just upped the design temps due to global warming. Unfortunately, the system at my house is on the fritz. I need to call a service tech out tomorrow. I went to give the system a shot of freon (yes I'm licensed) but the hoses on my gauge set are all dry rotted. In turn I' afraid I let out more freon than I put in. :?

Glad it was a success  :thumb: Oh, got pics?

I'll host another new guy session at my place maybe in October.

Scott,
We just got to hear John's copy of the Dupre so you'll need to get a copy from him. We really didn't take any pics. We just listened to music--no equipment changes so nothing new to report. Jedi is checking into the attorney with the Muny so we'll see what he comes up with.

Steve,
Once again, I would like to thank you for inviting me over.  I had a great time not only listening to the wonderful sounds but learning about your equipment as well.  This was the first time I had the opportunity to listen to a set up such as yours.

Many thanks to John and Chris as well. A great bunch of guys!

I forgot to mention Chris H. gave us all a pair of reference demo discs he produced for using at audio shows. I'm listening to the first one and it's excellent! Thanks again Chris!

Sorry I couldn't make it Steve.  Our flight got in at noon from a full and exhausting week in Orlando ... I got home and tried to take a nap, intending to get up and come over to the meet, but didn't wake up until about 7:30 :)
