Hey Jeff,
Let me know what you think of the Buell. I have my choices narrowed down between this and a Ducatti and very heavily leaning towards the Ducatti (It's that Italian thing in me )

hi bill,

in 1998, i was in the same boat as you - i was torn between the buells & the ducati's.  i had my choices narrowed down to a buell s2, a ducati monster, or a ducati 900ss/sp.  i decided i would buy the 1st used bike that i got a great deal on.  it turned out to be a buell s2, w/the engine breathed on to exceed the specs of the '98 buells - basically, it was spec'd out w/'98 cams & pistons to give the factory 101hp, plus the buell race kit, which added another 10hp.  w/90hp & 90ft-lbs of torque, it's a blast.  but, i'd still love a newer ducati (and a new buell, too, for that matter), but i won't be selling my s2, & i do not have any more room or money for any more bikes!     i'd love a new ducati hypermotard and a new buell xb12ss:

but, i will have to make do with my '95 buellie & my 78 ducati darmah...   aa

bottom line?  you gotta get a buell and a ducati!   :thumb:

I'll let you know Mon/Tues.  Dealer just got a Blue '08 in and I grabbed it.
I have a '04 BMW K1200GT so going for something a bit different.
Great test drive.

Hi Jeff,
Sorry your thread has gone off track but that is one sweet bike. I don't know if I'm ready to buy a bike off the showroom floor just yet but like Doug, I may grab a newer, used Buell or Ducati I can get a good deal on.
My wife wants me to get another bike and originally wanted me to get the Honda CBR900RR. I told her if I was going that far, I was buying a Ducati or Buell. The bike I want is the new Ducati SportTouring ST3 ABS or the new SuperBike. She TOLD me to buy a Ducati in full Italian colors (we're both from big Italian families). I could live with either. There is a Buell dealer up the road from me in Binghamton (about 9 miles), maybe it's time for a test drive  Closest Ducati dealer is about 100 miles. Maybe I do need one of each. Hey Doug, you want to run that past my wife :argue:
I haven't owned a bike since I sold my heavily tweaked Pearl White Honda VFR700 when my twins were like 2 years old.

hi bill,

ya, thread hijack big-time, eh?     funny you had an interceptor.  my buellie replaced my original '83 honda 750 interceptor.

you actually *can* get two bikes, if you consider something a bit older.  three really nice buell s2's recently sold on ebay for ~$3k - steals, for the amount of bike you get.  and, similar deals can be had on the older ducati ss/sp's...

if you want a real monster of a sportbike, you may wanna hold of & splurge on the soon-to-be-released buell 1125r.  spec'ing out at 375lbs & 146 hp (86 ft-lbs of torque), for $12k, it has the potential of being a world-beater...

Jeff,

I sent you a PM last night regarding the Modwright.  Did you get the PM?  Is the MW still available?  I'll take it if it is.
