I find I have to sell my Apex due to a recent purchase of much more expensive speakers.  Need to recoup $$...

I'm selling my Apex II with the following upgrades:

Sonicap Gen II capacitors with Mills resistors
Sonicap Platinum by-pass capacitors
Bi-wire option
Soundfusion VB8 spikes

I don't believe there are any other options available other than the high gloss finish and the finish/veneer on these is really beautiful - I would say the finish tends towards a chocolate look - very rich.  These have the laquered plinth/base in black that looks very nice.  Current retail with these options is $5600 + $275 shipping.  I have the sturdy wood crates and would consider delivery within 200 miles if my price is met.  I received these speakers in March of 06 - they have been carefully taken care of and are in excellent shape.  The only 2 exceptions are a small ding near the bottom front of one speaker - since they are a dark finish you won't see it unless your 6-8 inches away and its only about 1/4" - and the veneer on the other has a small lift on the bottom right corner - again not noticable in the least.  I've modified the binding posts slighty by carefully removing some hard plastic in order to fit larger spades.  Again not noticable and they work perfectly fine - I just enlarged the hole so to speak.  I really hate to sell these ;(  The speakers are a joy to listen to and with their full range rear ambience drive can be adjusted to suit your preference.  Bass is amazingly quick and deep - highs sweet and extended - midrange very palpable and smooth.  I attended RMAF last year and my wife and I thought the Apex in my small room sounded much better than most systems we heard.... I'm prob. crazy for selling these,  expecially at this price - the quality of sound and construction amazes everyone that has heard/seen them.  Al of RAW has been a joy to work with and I'm sure he would answer any questions you might have.

These weight 160 lbs each crated so they will have to go freight and the expense will be the buyers.  I'll work with the buyer to arrange that. If you live close your welcome to come listen - I think you will be impressed with their sound. I prefer paypal and will split the 3% fee.  I'm looking to get $3300 out of these.  See my gallery for pics - last picture is current setup.  I can take more but my digital camera is on the fritz - the digital display fades after 1-2 seconds...  Anyways PM for more info etc..

Got a pair of these, very nice...

Wife really liked the fact I could get that Sub out of our master bedroom!

Have the RA-8's also, really like the Ribbons from RAW - fast, with no fatigue!

(I can hear the fly-back transfomers on TV left on and give my wife crap when the kids leave theirs on.  These ribbons are sweet!)

weekend bump ;)

I can reduce the price to $3150 and not include the Soundfusion VB8 cones.

I'm really suprised I haven't had a great deal of interest in these.  Is it because not many have heard them?  I think so because at this price and for what you get I think they are a steal.  It would cost you this much and many, many hrs. to build them.  These were custom built by Al and look/sound as good as anything I've heard for 3 times the price or more.  Plus you don't have to break them in - I took care of that for you ;)

I need to move them out - my new speakers arrive today.

I can't believe no one has JUMPED on these.  :duh:

I have a pair of RAW Acoustics HT 8's which share virtually the same drivers as the APEX II's, and GR Research OB 7's which have a similar configuration of MTM + 4 woofers. While I haven't had the APEX II's, I have a pretty darn good idea what the APEX II's are going to sound like. That should be one seriously good sounding speaker. A totally full range, full bodied speaker, that has an f3 of 24 Hz. With enough dynamics to knock someone down. It also has the adjustable rear firing wide range ambient driver. All you could want in a speaker.

At the price you are offering them, you are giving them away. Not much in that price range is going to come close. Nothing in that price range will leave one wanting for more.

Somebody is going to get a killer deal here.

Cheers

thanks for the comment Denny.  I agree.  If I hadn't gotten a very good deal on some Vandy 5a's,  the thought of selling these would not have come up.  I just can't keep 3 pairs of speakers....

Shipping these should be pretty easy since I have the wood crates.  I estimate shipping to be around $300-350 or so within the USA.

Great Al, Thanks!  Here are a few pics for you to check out.  I am a pretty dam good speaker builder if I do say so myself!.   I just wish I knew more about designing them.  They turned out incredible, and I will put another finish on the next pair.  I built and sold these for someone before I realized how great they are!!  I will write a full review for you and post these pics also!!  Incredible design, and gorgeous looking speakers,, Thanks again for your fantastic customer service.  Jon

I may have someone else itching as well Tony.
This other person does not attend AC so I informed him that this pair are for sale and he may contact you. This other person has a pair now and also has the Apex C so for the price this is a great deal as it is cheaper than a pair of HT8's he was looking at.

I just got a quote for someone living in Dorchester, MA for residence to residence pickup/delivery with liftgate.  The price was $350 or $315 if delivered to a business(http://www.freightnshipping.com/).  Just an FYI for anyone interested.  DHL also said they could deliver them with a $10-15 overweight surcharge.  They were about $300 total insured - bases would ship seperately.
