Amp4 Mod Pictures - The first steps
« on: 24 Jul 2007, 11:59 am »
Hey everyone :D

As some of you may remember, I've been posting on Audiocircle a lot, designing a mod of a 41hz Amp4. After a long time of not being able to, I've finally started on the physical building of it.

And of course, I have some pictures for your viewing...

Some Panasonic FMs in place instead of the stocks, in the 5v section:

The new Metglas Inductors ready for fitting:

And a close up, note the litz-hybrid 3x 21AWG Vampire OCC braid:

One of Jan's inductors, as a backup (in the quite probable event mine are awful):

And finally one of the new Wima Capacitors in the output filter (note the cramping above and below the section! [8D][:I]):

I'm hoping to make some rapid progress this week, as hosting a beach party on Sunday, and was hoping to have this beast ready, rather than going back to the ol' sonic impact...

Comments/cries of 'omg what are you doing' appreciated!

I'll be back,

Hope you're all well,

Peter.

Reverie,

Very, very nice work!  :thumb:  FWIW, where possible, you might want to solder your caps closer to the pc board and its groundplane(s).  Those wire 'standoffs' can act as antennas to recieve (and transmit) switching noise which is floating about in any switching amp.

Regards,
Paul
