The summer Wurlitzer Tour has returned home...
« on: 18 Jul 2007, 12:23 am »
....and the Ole Girls ( A pair of 1937 PP45 Wurlitzer Jukebox amps )are back up on their stands and kiciking out heavy sounds thru the VOTTs like they never left their spot!
This speaks for the original build quality of those amps. almost 70 years old and can travel around from location to location and come back home and sound as good as ever.

Now the Girls can't tell me of their visits to the different homes and vareities of music selections the Girls brought to life, I can only imagine.

I'd like to hear from you guys that got a chance to live with the amps for while, to tell a little about what experiences they had with the Girls. .... Guys don't worry I know how emotional this can be, but its Tube Audio !

I'd also like to say Thanks Guys.. for taking great care of the Girls
In my listening session tonight, since the Ole Girls have gotten a chance to warmup now I can only say,..... Wow just as I remember !
      45's Forever!

     Have fun !

I originally posted this in a different thread here on AC a few weeks back after my initial listening session.  Little did I know that I was actually in for a real treat to what is possible in my system.  Our very generous GAS friend extended that magical touch when it came to the Wurlitzer amps.

Willie,

I got a chance to plug in the "Old Girl" PP45 Wurlitzer's last night for a little listening session through the La Scalas.  Oh boy...oh boy...oh boy.   I definitely detected that "Magic fairy dust" that Scott referenced in one of the previous posts.  I thought the VTL's in triode were nice (and they are), but they don't compare to the space/imaging produced by the Wurlitzer's.

To use some common phrases for some uncommonly sounding amps..I "heard" the musicians/band suddenly appearing in front of me...I could walk between them on stage...(OK, the phrase most often used) the speakers just disappeared.  I mean, for real...no bullsh!t. (Sorry about that last one Moderators).  I saw a great many sparkles of multi-colored lights, I heard loud bangs and numerous pops that got my attention.  It's OK Willie, it wasn't from your amps.  Last night was the 4th of July and maybe that was outside...but I heard and saw Bela Fleck, Carol Kidd, Clark Terry and a few others at my night of celebration with the "Ole Girls" (I'm speaking of the amps, if my wife reads this post).

I'm anticipating more great listening sessions ahead for the short time I have the amps in my possesion.

Thanks for the opportunity Willie.

Many thanks again Willie,
Ron
