mebbe i am mistaken, but i think what is being asked for is speakers that retain exceptional soundstaging capabilities, even when placed directly against the rear wall of a listening area.  while i liked the zu druid monitors i auditioned, enough to actually purchase them, i think they still soundstage a lot better when out from the rear wall...

doug s. - you are correct. I am asking about speakers that will retain exceptional sound staging abilities when placed against the wall.

"Real world"? Audio Note (UK) speakers love corners are highly refined and cast a huge sound stage.  They play everything from rock to rockmanninoff, well. It's just that they are a tad bit expensive (for me).  They don't publish their prices any more.  You have to talk with a dealer.  Contact Bob Neill at Amherst Audio if you want to talk to an AN dealer who knows his stuff (and sells other equipment).

Yes, I am an occasional, happy customer of Bob's.

I think the SP Technology Revelations can be placed closer to walls
and still have the excellent sound the're famous for. Has something to do with the
transmission line/reflex combination of bass design.
