A freeware (and unique) RTA now available
« on: 14 Jul 2007, 06:30 pm »
Just wanted to point this out to anyone who may need an easy to use and fast tool for arranging and adjusting speakers in rooms.  Freeware, no strings attached, and it works.

SynRTA is an RTA-like analyzer that uses continuous noise-like sound (played from a CD), but which doesn't need to "settle" when you measure -- each update of the graph is complete and easily and quickly repeated.

Anyway, it's freeware, and there is more about it at
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=43121.0,

and at
http://libinst.com/SynRTA.htm (where you can download it from).

Does your software run test tones for microphone calibration?

No, sorry. The mic calibration has to come from somewhere else.
You could, I guess, use it to calibrate the flatness of another mic, if you have another flat mic to compare with.
But it can't calibrate sensitivity.  It doesn't know sensitivity, only flatness.
