I rented the DVD of Black Snake Moan over the weekend. I played it using an Oppo 970 with my Dipole XRS speakers and my amp. (My TV sits between my two speakers) While Black Snake Moan is by no stretch a great movie, it does have the following going for it.
1. A true Southern Gothic atmosphere.
2. A great Blues score.
3. Samuel L. Jackson playing an old time Blues Man, and last but certainly not least
4. Christina Ricci playing a raging nymphmaniac who goes around the whole movie half dressed, and to add to the hysteria she is chained to a radiator!!
The movie just drips atmosphere, and the Hemptone Drivers convey each and every drop of sweat. I have tried in these posting to try and convey the emotion the Hemptone Drivers are capable of producing. Watch this movie listening to the soundtrack over the Hemptones, you will understand what I have been trying to say.
