Where you really get hosed is trying to review that stuff.
You lose either way...
If you come back and say they are incredible, all of your
readers say you are insane. If you say they are no big
deal, the mfr. says you can't hear and your system is
junk!
Arrgh!
Honestly, I'm just not even interested!
That's an easy one: take the readers' side, which in this case at least is likely FAR closer to objective.
For, they may indeed be 'incredible', but statements like that are pointless in audio - all that matters is compared to WHAT? Of course they will probably sound incredible, and of course there are probably dozens of cables that will sound as good or better in the same system for 1/10th or less the price.
These crooks are going to keep upping the ante until they finally reach a limit nobody will pay. Where is that? Are there audiophiles who would be able to convince themselves that $100,000 speaker cables are giving them something they don't get for cheaper? I bet there are.
This cable business is really just getting completely ridiculous. I am not a silly "objectivist" who will say that cables make little or no difference - of course they do - the point is in the profit margins here. What do these cables cost to make?
