Thanks guys.  I received the same feedback from my bro-in-law.

Kevin I agree with you.  My kids want to see it, I tell them why they can't, then they get upset because they think it's supposed to be a kids movie.

Is it better than the "transformers" in Matrix - revolutions?

An enjoyable movie...really fast action...too fast many times, very hard to follow the flow. No way one can tell who was winning when the transformers were battling each other. A fun filled 2 hours...3 out of 5 stars.

I saw the movie tonight for $3.00 in Franklin, VA.  I do not think it would be appropriate for kids under 12 (too bad).  It was pretty entertaining but not as good as the latest Die Hard.  I would rate it a 2.5 stars.

Did anyone else catch all of the product placement.

Instead of placing black tape over the name like usual they made a point of getting brand names right on the screen.

I saw a lot of GM product logos on the transformers and 'Panasonic' seemed to jump right off of that memory card as well as a couple of others like Nokia and DeWalt.

Product placement in major motion pictures has been quite common for many years --see wayne's world as the first overt, comedic approach to product placement i can think of. It's been increasingly overt in the past few years, as advertisers see it as a better marketing strategy. I haven't seen black tape on products outside the odd music video in a long while.

I read somewhere that GM didn't pay money, but gave them over a million dollars worth of cars (and possibly, parts :green: )

I thought the "...? Nokia is Finnish!" line was pretty funny :-P Just wondering if that counts as product placement... I suppose so - ?

I don't know why they make a movie for kids and put that subject material in it.   I'm not some fuddy duddy that worries about masterbation topics with my kids but there is no good reason to put that type of material in a movie that attracts kids.  Its a topic you should talk to your kid about, not let a movie present what is the norm and appropriate.

I just don't understand Hollywood.   Since we have small kids I've seen all the children movies through the eyes of a parent.   I find it troubling some of the topics that these guys decide is appropriate for kids movies.   Most of the material goes right over their head but the attitudes are very negative.   I'm not so much concerned with naughty words or appropriate nudity as I am with attitudes and the view of the world presented.   There is a lot that is communicated about our culture that is just below the radar in most movies.    I find it all kind of ugly and feel guilty for feeding the money coffers for some of these guys.

I couldn't agree more.  A guy and his two 7 or 8 year old sons sat in front of me in the theatre when I saw this movie, and I felt sorry for him.  It's not Michael Bay's job to be a sex educator.  There's another scene where a girl is referred to as a "ho", and then another when she is belittled and called "training bra".

I guess there's a reason why it was rated PG-13... :P

Hello there. I saw “Transformers” at the worlds most eventfully cinema the Empire Leicester square on Thursday 26th July first day screening via the cinemas new and improved 56KW JBL sound system and THX certified!

I was a little disappointed with the film I mean it was so hard to follow the dialogue I would have appreciated if subtitles where on the screen being a Michael Bay film you’d except a no nonsense film that immediately cuts to the chase.

I was only interested in the controversial JBL THX sound system and its playback performance. Stunning gob smacked astonished dazzled trilled enlightened and entertained beyond the previous THX presentations that I have seen there in the past with a mere 13KW JBL THX sound system.

Watching the “Transformers” transform the streets and city into a war zone for there own political propaganda was funny at times and often too much for taking due to the extreme dynamic range. The film was presented in 35mm scope (Dolby Stereo SR-D). There was so much happening in the mix from 20KW of LFE.1 that kicks in from time to time, slammed me back into the rocker chair.

Deep without a hint of audible distortion was evident near the end of the film with the final battle. As “Transformer” roles though mid air all the rest of mix on the screen channels and partly the surrounds goes dull with a HEAVY almighty LFE.1 that dropped down so low, I was expecting to hear vibrations rattles or buzzing sounds from the interior of the auditorium. None what so ever, now that is a sound system, that showed bruit force that came within 120dbc and I’m sure it would have gone a lot further with a different Dolby mix.

I was hopping to see DIE HARD at the Empire but regrettably I missed the last showing of “DIE HARD” in THX the day before!

Still at £9.00 for admission its not bad in fact its better than the local cinemas where admission isn’t far off from £9.00 and all get is a major disappointed.

Picture rating 8/10 it was a bit grainy, it was originally going o be presented in (digital) but the digital projector was up the creek until they got a new one. The film played in digital a about a week after I saw it at the Empire.

Sound 10/10 no fault, what so ever perfect!

Comfort 10/10 rocker chairs are the best!

Overall 10/10 The Empire Strikes Back with 56KW JBL THX!

I enjoyed the movie just pure entertainment, had no problem following the dialogue.  Releases on DVD and HD DVD October 16th!  The special effects were some of the best I can recall.

Caught transformers in IMAX a couple of weeks ago.

While I rather enjoyed it in 35mm, it was a good deal more intense in IMAX.

Will also say that most of the footage that was added for the IMAX version wasn't really needed. But a couple of the added scenes weren't too bad.

Watched the movie on DVD tonight and enjoyed it just as much as in the theater.  My wife didn't see it in the Theater but liked it on DVD.  I found I could follow the transformations well on my modest HT setup, maybe better than the theater or just probably because I had seen the movie before I guess.

Load of LFE, loads of it. Bob you should enjoy this one for sure.
It goes right up there with the better LFE content movies of late. The was a few really nice LFE scenes and one where one on the Deceptacons was battling in the city streets and shoots a rocket towards the lady in street and the Transformer rolled over the lady to protect her.  There is a sonic boom type effect that just explodes over the room and ripples from the front to the back of the room, and you hear it and feel the wave roll over your body, NICE. My wife was looking around like "Holy Crap"  I must say that was one of the most intense bass moments I've had in my room.

BTW, War of the Worlds would be the best I've heard thus far, good gawd that movie ripped the floor in half.  Although, I have a movie I saw, can't recall the name at the moment but for me it ties WOTW for bass content and even betters it IMO.  THIS MOVIE IS INTENSE, the name will come to me shortly, I'll let you know but this movie could fry your sub if you're not careful.

My HT bass system consists of ACI Maestro & Axiom subs and a few platform mounted butt kickers  :thumb:

That movie wouldn't be Pearl harbor would it? I blew out a Cerwin Vega on that one.  Subwoofers don't like explosions. I saw Transformers both in a theater with an awesome THX system and at home. Even tho I liked the intimacy of my 6.1 system, I can't honestly compare it to a calibrated theater with the big screen. It was the first time since 2001 when the first Spiderman came out that I had been to the theater but I made up my mind taht I was going to experience Transformers the way it should be experienced. Seeing it at home had it's advantages from being familiar with the action scenes and the soundtrack but that's about it. I'd have given my left (you know what) to have seen this movie at an I-MAX. 1 of these days,,,,,, :o

No, not Pearl Harbor, although I remember a few really nice bass scenes from that movie.  Here is the thread i started about the movie I'm talking about.  If you watch it let me know what you think.

My friend is a bass nut, so any movie I think is really good LFE wise, I check out at his place as well since he has an infinite baffle bass setup that is just great.

Nope I haven't seen "Irreversable" but any movie with a 9 minute anal rape seen must be full of BASS. I hear the scene was shot in 1 take. It's really not my kind of movie, I like action movies but not that kind of action.  :nono: I'll stick with Pearl Harbor.  :thumb:

Ahhh I see you've done some reading or something...
Definitely not for 98% of the public, I can't recall how I came across it but it was just torture for me to watch but also I was sucked in and needed to see where it all ends. I remember saying WTF and pausing it to collect my senses and just being very beside myself and feeling just plain yuckie inside.  Thinking the scene would pass but it just kept going and I had to FFwd through it. I remember cursing the director and asking what in the hell is wrong with him.

As I said the movie is controversial and it wll AFFECT you.  Most people if the know about it before hand will skip the movie once they hear about the rape content.  And when the movie gets to the reveal at the end you just are taken for another loop and your emotions just explode.  The first 15 minutes are challenging as the music, atmosphere, subject matter (not rape) and camera work just ATTACK your senses in a way very few movies do, many have complained of nausea, motion type sickeness, people were throwing up in the theater...just plain intense stuff going on.  About 10 minutes in I remember catching myself or rather my sub catching my attention as it was suffering badly.  I was so swept up in the mod of the movie it was crazy and then thing that happens and I just scringed, had to cover my eyes diue to the sheer brutality involved.  The French pull no punches, in America they would have had to create a special rating for this movie.

Oh now I remember, just as the rape seen started (there is hard, pulsating music and not so much of a women screaming  early on. he music is just hypnotic and you're in this trance and your brain is steadily following the visuals)  but my wife came down stairs (I didn't hear her coming until she got close and spoke) and said what is that music and it was one of those terrifying moments in life and I remember yelling at my wife insanely "Get back, get back, get outta here, go" and she was terrified and ran back up stairs and I found the remote paused the movie and told her more or less what was happening.  but that interaction between me and my wife was terrifying in its self.

you know I haven't seen the movie in a few years and have no plans to see it again, but I wonder if it's as bad as I recall it because in my mind it is No.1 on my list of movies I will never watch again because I am just not strong or crazy enough.

I saw that movie a few years ago...don't remember the "15 continuous minutes of low bass". If that movie had such effect on you...have you seen Hostel?

Saw Hostel, if was freaky as well but to me didn't have the same feel this movie had.  With Hostel you knew you would be seeing some crazy stuff.  This movie presented it's elements in a different way. The two movies are not even in the same league as far as direction and presentation IMO.

The 15 minutes of bass is there, right from the start it's most like club music with LFE mixed I think in but it's there.  Of course with bass, the quality of your system and how loud you listen etc... will dictate the effect. I've seen most the bass heavy hitters i.e. WOTW, Jurrassic Park, U-571, Titan A.E. etc... and none of them we as bad.  Again it's the sustained bass that is the issue, maybe over heating the voice coils of the driver or tripping the protection circuitry, I don't know.
