My five year old son wants to see it and we might go tomorrow morning.

If we go, I'll let you know what I think.

Just got back from seeing it and it was awesome!

Great effects, theater was packed.

Been dying to see this, especially after seeing the trailers, and I wan't disappointed.

Lots of action, but some battles were a little confusing on who was who.

Gonna pick this up when it comes out on DVD for sure.

I'm biased, having grown up with the transformers on TV, but i thought it was a great action/sci-fi movie. Highly recommended, and it is faithful enough to the TV show (including a few inside jokes) so as not to disappoint die hard fans.

I saw the movie this morning with my oldest son and it was pretty much what I expected - lots of CGI scenes, ok acting (the female lead was easy on the eyes), and predictable dialogue.

That being said, I didn't mind being there and my son liked it a lot.

The movie could have been a little shorter, but I wasn't constantly checking my watch...

I wouldn't shut it off if it was on tv, but I wouldn't jump to see it in the theater either.

I know Ebert gave it 3 out of 4 stars, but I thought it was more like 2 or 2 1/2 stars.

To qoute my 15 yr movie mates "The perfect action movie" "Awesome" "Can wait to see it again"  :thumb:

This was a good time, I had little expectations good or bad...it's Michael Bay doing "Transformers" it's not going to be Shakespeare.  It was by my definition "A Summer Blockbuster", a good time for the family with lots of action, funny moments and a kids fantasy put on the big screen. This movie is gonna do BIG business, if not then it would be a shame.  It was MUCH more entertaining then 90% of the comic book movies I've seen, Spiderman...who.

Yes,  I also would've liked more wide angle shots, things are happening so fast and furious and those tight shots make it hard to take it all in.

Take the movie for what it is and you'll be most entertained.
Please don't go to the theater will a sourpuss attitude, like the movie has something to prove to you.  Get you're popcorn, nachos and drink and sit back and fantasize for 2 hrs.

Hmmmm...a "perfect action movie" is quite a stretch.

Do you think it is better than any of these action movies (to just name a few)?

Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Terminator/Terminator 2
Die Hard
Mad Max/Road Warrior
Robo Cop
Spiderman 1/2
Independence Day
Blade

Not trying to sway you away from your opinion, but it really needs to be put in the proper context.

That's up to each person to decide.

I certainly don't want to say what is suitable for other kids.

Zybar, the answer is in the quote.  Those were the opinions of my 15 yr old movie mates, not me.  I enjoyed the movie and liked that they really enjoyed it too.

Your list has some good movies, half of which I don't think my 15 yr olds have seen.
I personally enjoyed it just as much or better than Spiderman, certainly Robocop from what I remember of that movie (haven't seen it in years.)  Maybe not Terminator 1 or 2 (at least it doesn't come off as iconic)  But as far as action goes, it's right up there IMO.  Maybe not the good story and action intertwined like Madmax etc...  But I didn't leave the theater feeling let down or thinking they messed it up.  People clapped in my theater, I heard people laughing and even a "cool" or two from some young fella.  So I'd say it was a definite crowd pleaser.

As always it's a matter of taste and expectations, but I find it hard to think the average person going to see it won't be entertained.  Can't really jugde acting ability in this type of movie but I think that the teenage lead did everybit as good a job as the teenage lead in Terminator and so on.  Best action movie I've seen so far this year and I saw a few...Spiderman 3, Diehard 4 etc...

It is rated PG-13 and does have some mild language and sexuality in it, so I would say "no" for a 5 yr. old.

I found it to be a great popcorn flick. Never boring with plenty of comic relief and action.
I will most likely buy the Blu-ray when its released.

I would not take young kids to this unless you want to answer questions about masterbation ect afterwards.

I don't know why they make a movie for kids and put that subject material in it.   I'm not some fuddy duddy that worries about masterbation topics with my kids but there is no good reason to put that type of material in a movie that attracts kids.  Its a topic you should talk to your kid about, not let a movie present what is the norm and appropriate.

I just don't understand Hollywood.   Since we have small kids I've seen all the children movies through the eyes of a parent.   I find it troubling some of the topics that these guys decide is appropriate for kids movies.   Most of the material goes right over their head but the attitudes are very negative.   I'm not so much concerned with naughty words or appropriate nudity as I am with attitudes and the view of the world presented.   There is a lot that is comunicated about our culture that is just below the radar in most movies.    I find it all kind of ugly and feel guilty for feeding the money coffers for some of these guys.

In Australia it's rated an M, which I think means recommended for 15+. Maybe that's a little conservative though...

Anyway I enjoyed it. I would have like the "transformations" to go a bit slower sometimes so I could see how it worked...

Edit: Oh yeah -- liked bumblebee better as the original car.
