Harmon Kardon Citation II Amplifier
« on: 3 Jul 2007, 10:24 pm »
   I am looking for someone in the greater Chicago land area who has the ability to put new tube sockets in my HK Citation II Amp.  Also if possible the ability to replace the power cord.
Any and all help will be appreciated.

                                          Thank You.

You are in luck - Jim McShane is in the Chicago area and is one of the most knowledgeable people about Citation amplifiers out there.  His website contains a lot of great information as well as details on how to contact him.  I think he'll do modifications for you as well as sell you parts if you want to do it yourself.  I've bought parts from him to modify my Citation II and been completely satisfied.

An Update:

I hooked up with Jim McShane and brought my Harmon Kardon Citation II to his place.  Two facts were readily apparent.  The work area was immaculate, and the pride and passion that Jim has for his work was unmistakable.  I placed myself in his hands, and he made suggestions as to replacing tubes, tube sockets, and upgrading various capacitors.  Everything he did he cleared with me first.  I picked up the amp yesterday and it sounds appreciably better.  Smoother, sweeter, excellent sound stage, and  rock solid in it's  control of the speakers.  Quite simply put, Jim took the best amp I ever had and made it better.  The price was fair, and I give the highest recommendation to Jim and his work.  He is the Harmon Kardon guy!

I agree 100% on Jim McShane.  He is above reproach, knows his stuff, and can make a Cit peform beyond belief.
