iPod and iTunes
« on: 24 Jun 2007, 06:55 pm »
I was going to play a few songs off an iPod that I'm borrowing through my PC.  I've done this before with no problem.  Now, it won't let me access the files unless I sync the iPod with my iTunes, which would put all my songs on this iPod.  I don't want to do this, of course, as it's not my iPod.  I'm assuming this is due to a new version of iTunes.  Is there anyway around this?  This stinks.

I think that's the way it always worked.

I used to be able to transfer files from the iPod to the PC and vice-versa.  Not too long ago (just a few weeks). . .now I can't.

Well, I think you can only have your iPod synced with one iTunes catalog. You can have multiple iPods synced with the same iTunes but you cannot sync any one iPod with more than one iTunes catalog.

You're mistaken.  There has never been the ability to transfer files from the iPod to the PC without 3rd party software.  (The one exception is "Transfer Purchases from iPod" which was introduced in iTunes 7.)

You may be confusing this with manual and automatic sync.  Manual sync is not available on Shuffles.
