Opening a Khartago
« on: 22 Jun 2007, 11:35 pm »
Can someone tell me what tool I need to open a Khartago or does it just slide open with some elbow grease?  I need to change a fuse.

Thanks in advance.

There are hex-head screws on the bottom of the amp - I'm sorry but I don't recall the size. The amp covers have some flex to them that needs to slide over a ridge on the front plate to slide fully forward when you re-assemble them. You also need to watch out for the foam padding on the inside of the cover - it may bind/catch on the top of the caps (especially if you have a capacitor upgrade). You will see what I mean when you try it for the first time - just be careful and don't try to force anything...

Good Luck!

Thanks.  I don't have the hex driver required so I was hoping that the case just slid off.  I'll visit the hardware store in the a.m.

Appreciate the help.

When sliding top cover consider there are some electrical insulators that look like thin foamy, sometimes they can stop free slide of the cover, try to lift up a little.

Actually your problem will be they can jam because the sliding top has Damping sheets adheared to the underside, and will need to be bent up a bit to clear them... sometimes they will get scrapped and chipped in order to do it. Sometimes getting them back on is the challenge more than taking them off, they take a little bit of force to do it once in a whilet. I would suggest putting them on a couple thick towels, or on your couch to protect while your messing with them so the amp does not get nicked up or go flying if you try to do it on a slick table suface.
