I need something like this except it makes the wife stop asking those nagging questions like, not another set of speakers!!! Will it do that????? Id easily pay 99 cents a minute.

So if a man sells jars of rocks, orange stickers and plastic wall plates to people it might mean:

1) They own a hardware store or gift shop
2) They are brilliant inventors akin to Edison and Tesla

I'm liking this theory.  I'm starting to feel smarter and more brilliant by the minute!

And as far as brilliant pebbles go, I found an even better tweak than that.  The price is much more in line with the high end audiophile market.

I bet in addition to all the supernatural Hi-Fi properties it surely posseses it might even work as some kind of acoustic diffusor!  Double cool!

some young guy

So if a man sells jars of rocks, orange stickers and plastic wall plates to people it might mean:
just for the record: the wall plates are ceramic. they're made in china and can also be purchased at my local hardware store. geoff says that he puts them through a secret process, but won't comment on said process. i bought a couple of them for a buck on a-gon. they did nothing besides cover the receptacle. here's a shot of the back of one that i received that was cracked when i opened the box. he replaced it with no questions asked, but then went on the asylum and said that i must have installed it incorrectly... funny thing was; it was broken inside the box, the chip was in the box and i never installed it.

i can't comment on the rocks, the paper liner, the clocks etc. as i stopped with my $1 investment, feeling that my curiosity had been satisfied. maybe the phone tweek works, probably not... but i think i'll wait to read about it.

Why do we continue to give MD free publicity by discussing the products in threads?

Tvad4,
I wouldn't exactly call this thread "free publicity".  If anything, this thread serves more to expose MD and its business practice for what it really is.  Who knows, this thread may even save a few unsuspecting person from purchasing any of MD's "products".

Well, screw the pebbles thing. I'm goin' hog.

I just bought 23 of those geodes. I'm thinking I'll build a sealed glass green house with the geodes in it. I'll include a phone inside that's open and on speaker phone 24/7. You'll be welcome to call that line anytime and make noises if you think it will help. I've got an 8 track alarm clock (battery operated) I'll have installed too. I'll treat the entire external structure with THIS.

Our property (includes deer farm) is on the market. We'll need to move and rebuild around the structure to accommodate this tweak. Preferably I'm thinking property that has several electrical line towers on it so we can build right under one.

I'm not sure where to place this thing in the music room though. Maybe on top of the CDP?

This tweak is probably going to be a little costly but what the hell. Tom...I'm countin' on your call now!

This tweak should really do something. I'll report back in about 8 months. If I'm not happy, I've always got 30 days to return it to somebody for a refund.

Cheers!

Has anyone seen "The Fly"? Do you know what can happen to a teleportation gone wrong? What if the tones get somehow garbled or altered? Anyone willing to take a chance with that? Your stereo could turn into some hideous mutant brain sucking monster.

Yes-someone who not only can turn bullshit into money, but judging from all his Audiogon feedback and his website/range of products, someone who is obviously good at it. Nathan needs to send him a Sonicrock T just for fun.

Nathan needs to send him a Sonicrock T just for fun.

.. but not for free. It should be "treated" and cost ...oh, $79.95, $19.95 for the shirt and $60.00 for the treatment.

better yet- he (she?) could buy the emperor's version.  Just stand there bare-chested with the phone in hand and the t-shirt will appear on his body.  of course, everyone can see it- right?

too funny

How many you guys ever talk to Geoff? I've only spoke with him twice. Nice guy but he ain't that charismatic and he ain't what I would call a sales pro by any stretch. The MD site isn't exactly a model for marketing either.

Just so you know, neither me or RSAD is affiliated with MD in any way. I just like to keep an open mind and judge something by my own personal experience of it if I'm inclined to try it - whether I understand it's workings or not. If I don't care to try something, then I've really got nothing of value to say.

True discovery is found in willing to expose oneself to experience. Whether your experience is positive or negative or judged right or wrong, it's your experience and then you have something of value to say.

Robert-This hobby is FILLED with lemmings; read the latest audio rag rave reviews and then watch the audiogon want ads fill with those lastest and greatest products 6 months later. Maybe part of it is we're laughing at ourselves and what a ridiculous hobby this is. If someone were to come in here totally ignorant of what AC and audiophiles are and read some of the posts and look at some of the pictures in member's gallerys, they'd think we were ALL insane. Most of us are open minded with a closed wallet when it comes to some of this stuff, but it's still fun to LAUGH at it sometimes.

I know that Eric. It would be nice if more of the enthusiast community (everywhere) would take some responsibility to contribute something different - more positive and healthy. Or, just leave it alone if that's not one's inclination.

...maybe part of it is we're laughing at ourselves and what a ridiculous hobby this is.

Then lets say "that" instead of tearing down something or somebody else. I'm as goofy as the next guy and I usually poke fun at the guy who has three fingers pointing back at him instead of the one pointing at someone else.

...I don't think anyone is really taking a shot at Geof the person...

Sure sounds like it. I'm not trying to be Mr. Kait's knight in shinning armor here. My point is the kind of attitude I perceive here is not good for our hobby or anything else really.

Thanks for the dialog Eric. It's a worthy discussion.

Personally, Robert I think you are just being cranky, maybe looking for an argument.... I really dont think it is worth defending, or even quantifying what our behaviour should be when people come across something that strikes them as being dishonest or just plain rediculous. You are no martyr and surely have opinions that hold back the greater virtue of whatever pursuits you may have. Somehow this has become something more important than it should be to you. We have a right to our opinions just as you do and to say that commenting on something in a critical manner is bad... is well... bad. Then we would all be driving Pintos and having several explode on highways across America each day. We must take our liberties to heart (patriotic musak) and intercourse in ruthless discourse and inches of blood to secure our rights even if it is against ones own government. For we are the people of a Democracy... we ARE the Audio Circle dun dun dun...

C'mon man,

They are more than vague about this tweak. It doesn't explain at all what it purportedly does, but says that the tweaks are instantaneous, and the improvement audible. They claim huge gains in performance, which should be easily measureable.

Ok, so if this Geoff Kait guy is this brilliant inventor, and this tweak is legitimate, post some before and after measurements of a piece of gear. That wouldn't be too difficult. And if it indeed works, then the guy is gonna have his phone ringing off the hook with customers, and manufacturers beating down his door to get their gear "tweaked".

Not to mention avoid being ridiculed on audio forums.

Sheesh!

........I can't believe I actually took the time to post in this thread, on the topic of this tweak.....

Cheers

Installed a cartridge on my P3 this morning without ruining anything and the cartridge arrived well packed and unbroken and is playing DSOTM as I type =Yeah baby!!

Until I read this thread I had an open mind about Ridge Street Audio. But after reading the self-righteous posturings of this Robert Schult, my mind has slammed shut to RSAD and MD alike.

It raises the old question, "Is he that god-damned stupid.........or does he think we are?"

I feel the need to post my 2c on this topic.

Being "open-minded" means taking the attitude that things should be judged on their merits - do not dismiss blindly, without knowledge.  This is obviously a good attitude in general, based on rationality.  Rationality is the key here: and rationality also mandates taking opinions on things we know, from our knowledge and experience, to be nonsensical.

Believing that such a "tweak" as the one under discussion works, with not only total lack of evidence, but a great deal of contrary evidence from science and experience that should tell us that it cannot possibly work, is irrational.  To even entertain the idea to me suggests a great deal of sheer ignorance in a variety of topics, and I must believe that the gent behind MD is either seriously deluded or essentially a crook, and more likely the latter.

It is seriously disappointing to me to see prominent people in the industry defending this voodoo garbage on any level.  Subjectivity in general is wonderful - nobody knows to any detail how the ear/brain mechanism really works and anybody savvy knows that our machines are not measuring musicality to any real extent.  We just don't understand things well enough.  But this stuff - this has nothing to do with subjective evaluation of hardware - it's just stinky horse crap and is not going to provide any more audio benefit than horse crap - which actually could help quite a bit if your room was bright and you spread it on the walls.

Ciao.
