I have a question about yamaha 6 channel surround sound receivers. Is it true that all the analog inputs are sent through a A/D/A converter? If so are there any positive merits within that process?
I'm not 100% positive on this, but I believe that most recievers do an A/D/A conversion to adjust channel levels, crossover from "big" to "small" speakers, and use DSP modes like HALL, etc. Usually you only get a straght analog passthrough unless you select the "direct" mode (which does not do bass adjustment). And unless dcs is doing the conversion process, there are probably no sonic benefits from a purist standpoint.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.
