Blue Ridge Sound Engineering BRSE HR-1
« on: 11 Jun 2007, 07:20 pm »
This is a fairly new company that tried to generate some buzz on some of the audio forums.  I picked up this pair because I was hunting an extra set of speakers and was curious.

Overall, this is a fairly nice speaker.  It doesn't best my maggies or even the GR Research AV/3s, but its pretty close to the 3s.  Going from memory (not totally reliable), I'd rate them over the Onix Ref1s.

This is definately a rockers speaker.  It is very clear with tons of sparkle.  Even in a small cabinet it does have nice bass.

The published specs:
+/-1dB from 42 to 20k
88dB sensitivity
6ohm load
2k list price

My tastes lean toward adding warmth even at the expense of accuracy and I need higher sensisitivty for the new system anyway so they aren't a good fit for me.  If you are a detail freak or you want to crank some rock/metal then these would be great.  I had these hooked up to my UCD/TVC in a temporary setup and it is definately hard not to move with the music.

$600 shipped in the continental US.  PayPal or USPS money order (NO paypal fee)

Forgot to mention that I use the same userid everywhere so samplesj has my ebay and audiogon feedback.  They are not all just purchases either.  I don't flip gear as fast as some people, but I've still sold a bit.

I'm the original owner and this is a non-smoking house.

I do have the original shipping boxes.  Please remember BRSE is a small company so it isn't custom fit foam and nicely priced boxes, but they were securly packed in plain boxes.

I can usually ship the same day as payment.

I just bought a JVC RS1 for the HT room so I've got to sell some stuff.

AC'ers don't hesitate to buy anything from Jeremy.  I recently purchased his Benchmark DAC1.  It arrived very quickly, in perfect condition, packed exceedingly well, and at a great price. :thumb:

Anyone interested?  These really are decent speakers.  They just don't fit my tastes as well as other speakers I've got on hand.  These to me are pretty close to a Paradigm style speaker vs the warmer sound I prefer.
